How To Sell On Social Media Without Being Sleazy

In today’s blog I’m going to talk to you about how to sell on socials without the sleaze – without feeling sleazy or being sleazy!

Now, everyone’s definition of sleazy marketing is different, but I think that every single person reading this will have experienced sleazy marketing, I know I have, and every single person reading this may have also participated in sleazy selling tactics, I know I have as well.

My experience of sleazy marketing is why I’m talking about it today, because guys, I’m tired of it! It’s time to clean up our act in regards to the way that we engage with people on social media. So, here are my tips on how to do that:

1. Determine What You Dislike

Take note of the things people do that you don’t like. Ask yourself: what is it that I don’t like about this? For example, I don’t like being treated like a piece of meat. When someone comes into my inbox just to try and sell me something, I feel like I don’t matter and I’m just another piece of meat. And nobody likes to feel like that.

Identify which marketing strategies you don’t like, WHY you don’t like them and make sure you don’t do that to somebody else.

2. Marketing Is Like Dating

When you go out on a date with somebody, everybody knows that the possibility of first base happening eventually is there. Read between the lines. It is possible that if the two of you like each other, down the line, first base is happening.

It’s the same with a sales relationship. People are aware that you’re selling something. They know that if they like you, down the line, they might buy from you. If someone signs up to your free training, they know in the back of their mind that they might end up eventually purchasing something from you.

So, what happens before they decide to buy from you is crucial. If you try to rush them, or are rude to them, or you treat them like a piece of meat, the date is going to end before you get the chance to go to first base.

Attractive marketing is when you live and breathe what you do, when you’re passionate about what you do and you show up every day to serve your mission. When you are so loud and so colorful, full of love and when you radiate light, you can’t help but attract people.

So, if you really want to attract more leads and more sales on social media, work on being a better you. Work on showing up more to help people, to serve your mission and people will just want to be around you. You won’t have to beg them or force your way into their DM’s. People will be DMing you.

Marketing is nothing but another date. Treat it as such and you will have plenty of customers.

3. Every Lead Matters

Give people a chance to sample your product. There’s no lead that doesn’t matter. Try not to judge people and think ahead too much. Stop focusing on every single person who joined a free training, it’s really not your business whether they buy from you or what their financial situation is.

Let’s go back to the dating analogy. It’s possible when you date someone that it may lead to marriage. In marketing, when someone becomes married to you they will buy from you over and over again. Even if someone is only ever doing all of your free trainings, if they like you enough to do all of them they will tell people they know about you. All leads matter.

4. Be So Good That They Can’t Ignore You

Focus on learning your craft, on being good at it and studying it. Be so good that they can’t ignore you. Let your light shine and they will be drawn to you.

Some people are so focused on ‘where are my clients?’ but if your stuff isn’t good, no amount of marketing is going to work. Be good so that when the time comes and people are ready to buy from you, you’re ready.

Be good with relationship building, copywriting, content and serving people, and the customers will come to you.

Some Suggestions For Starting The Sales Process Without Sleaze:

  • Invite people to DM you
  • DM an introduction with no strings attached
  • Provide value when you post
